Ants are social insects that belong to the Order Formicidae. They have different nesting and feeding habits.
They are commonly found in wall cavities, roof voids, kitchens, lawns, gardens, exposed soil, nests in and around buildings, cracks and crevices, the wood of decaying trees, and rockeries.
Ant eats various materials but prefers sweet foods and high protein types (e.g., meat, blood). It also attacks bread crumbs and fats.
Many DIY Ants infestation options do not work because their sense of smell is very good, and they can smell food from a long way and will use another path. More generally, ants use their senses of smell (such as trail-marking or alarm pheromones), hearing, touch, taste, or sight to navigate and communicate.
